LRF Rigs
and some of their uses
The Dropshot Rig
The drop shot rig provides the ability to keep a lure off the bottom, with a weightless action. Usually the bait is fished by letting the weight hit the bottom and then shaking the lure by twitching the rod. But can also be flipped, dragged, hopped, or jigged along the bottom.
The drop shot rig is perhaps the easiest rig to tie to start LRF fishing. Great for fishing in between rocks when the Mini species are targeted and brilliant for hook ups with the “snatch & run” type fish. It is very effective and can be used on a wide variety of venues; the dropshot rig will also allow you to pull out of snags, as the lead pulls off the rig and you wont lose your fish!
With an easily interchangeable weight attached below the lure, you can be sure that you are always fishing close to the bottom, and can instantly adjust the depth of the lure simply by moving the position of the weight.

Most drop shot weights have a crimped swivel at the top that makes it easy to clip onto your line, if you are using a very fine line it’s easy to double up the line to avoid the weight slipping off the line under minimum pressure.
