Almwch Breakwater/Harbour

Amlwch is a small harbour with a breakwater on the north coast of Anglesey, with rocks on either side of the entrance that are accessible in good weather. Fish can be had all round, the inside is particularly good when on a mini’s species hunt with plenty to be had during the summer months. The inside of the breakwater/harbour is not fenced so be careful if taking young children. Fishing is easy as it is just a large flat platform, use a tripod or simply use the high wall, but remember

take a rag if not using a tripod to stop your rods getting scratched!
Parking is available at the top of the rough road down but it does save your legs and cuts out a bit of a walk if you decide to. There are not many parking spaces available at the bottom of the road/track but it’s not often used so generally plenty of space. I favour this spot as I can see my van from the breakwater.

Brixham Harbour

Often referred to as a species hunter’s heaven Brixham breakwater offers a huge range of fish that swim the waters off the seaward side. Throughout the year you’ll have a chance of catching yourself mackerel, mullet, pollock, bream, whiting, bass, conger eels, scad, plaice, dabs, wrasse and garfish not to mention a multitude of mini species that can be had harbour side. It is possible to fish off the beach however due to its popularity with many swimmers fishing into
darkness is best on the beach. Fishing is prohibited inside the harbour. There is a car park at the bottom of the breakwater and a café close by if you want one.
